STX Offshore & Shipbuilding of South Korea has contracted for newbuilding heavylift crane vessel totalling around $100m from Belgian Scaldis Salvage & Marine Contractors NV, announced on March 8.
The heavy lifter is scheduled to be constructed at STX Dalian's shipbuilding & offshore complex with delivery in the first quarter 2014.
The newbuilding would get into operation of installing and dismantling offshore facilities, such as energy production platform, offshore wind turbine, etc.
Newly ordered vessel, 108m in length and 50.9m in beam, is equipped with two crane (2,000-t) and helipad and sails at 7 knots.
Installed with four Azimuth thrusters and DP2 system (Dynamic Positioning System 2), the cutting-edge vessel provides effective work environment.
