Japan's Kawasaki Line is said to be placing a newbuilding order for ultra-large boxships this year.
The company has already booked 21 ships to be delivered by the end of 2012, but most of the ships were ordered before the Lehman Shock.
And those ships are replacements for either currently chartered or old units.
Total tonnages of the shipping company of 80 ships will not change, but competitiveness would improve thanks to an increase of fuel efficiency.
The company is believed to face making a decision of a ship scale of the soon-to-be ordered ultra-large containerships within this year.
With the shipowner needing to order newbuildings, the final conclusion of the order will possibly be made in around the third quarter of the year.
